Reem Ahmed Wins THMC Nottingham at DTD
The Festival in Nottingham wrapped up this past weekend at Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) concluding another successful series and partnership between some of the industry’s best. The Hendon Mob Championship (THMC) Nottingham was featured in The Festival Series. THMC Nottingham drew a total of 384 entries and Reem Ahmed cashed in for £6,715.
Reem became the first female player to win a live THMC event. She joined Sosia Jiang as the only two female THMC champs however Sosia’s win was played as part of the 2020 Irish Poker Tour Online. Reem locked up her largest career result and 77th result overall, all coming close to home in the UK.
The final table featured the likes of Terence Newton, Thomas Ascott, Yasir Khan, Mihail Popa, Vikesh Shah, Callum Drummond, and Alexandru Talica who Reem defeated heads up. Alexandru is another local player with 57 of his 65 results coming at DTD. Reem and Alexandru agreed to a heads-up chop after they were the final two seated at the table. The £25,000 guarantee was comfortably surpassed totalling £37,248.
Though one requested anonymity, the final table featured two ladies for the first time, with the ladies finishing first and third. 384 players played over two Saturday starting flights with every table in DTD full during Saturday with the Main Event running side by side.
The Festival in Nottingham Main Event was won by Argentinian Ignacio Mendez. Ignacio topped a field of 609 for £37,595 after a heads-up deal with local legend Sean O’Donnell. The Main Event also hit the £200,000 guarantee. More than £232,000 was spread amongst the players making the money.
What’s Next for The Festival Series?
Next up for The Festival Series is a stop in Malta at Portomaso Casino. The dates and schedule were announced during The Festival in Nottingham with 49 events running May 14-21st.
The Festival in Malta will be headlined by the Main Event which will have a buy-in of €550. There will also be dozens of poker side events and plenty of the popular Festival mixed game action sprinkled in. Side events will include the Sviten Special, 8-Game, H.O.R.S.E., Open Face Chinese and Mixed PLO tournaments.
The Festival in Malta will also have a Blackjack and Roulette Championship, a Slots Tournament and Sports Betting Competition.
